I’m an experienced registered Blue Badge guide for groups and individuals and will plan bespoke tours if requested.
It gives me pleasure to share my knowledge of the Isle of Man and to bring its fascinating sites to life.
I have an in-depth interest in, and knowledge of:
Manx folklore, culture and Manx Gaelic, and
social, family, and natural history of the Island.
I am happy to tour with you in your vehicle – car, minibus or coach, or to guide leisurely to moderate walks around the Island’s towns, villages and countryside.
Chris is a Manxman born and bred with a passion for the history of his native Island. After a wide and varied career he graduated with first class honours in History and Heritage in 2018.
His specialist interests include the Island’s rich industrial heritage including our magnificent Victorian railways, and spectacular relics of the Island’s mining past including the iconic Laxey Wheel. He is a keen walker and particularly enjoys opening up hidden corners of the Island to visitors. Family history is another speciality, and Chris has helped many visitors trace their Manx roots and visit ancestral homes and family graves.
Chris est un francophone compétent et est qualifié pour guider en français.

Manx-born Jacqueline Yates helps you explore her much-loved island home, the Isle of Man, with tours in English or French.
Jacqueline was born and brought up in Douglas, the Island’s capital. After many years living in the UK and Switzerland the Island called her to come home and she returned in 2001.
Let her help you enjoy the glorious beauty, fascinating history and rich culture of this jewel in the Irish Sea.
Jacqueline’s particular interests lie in the music and dance which have enriched the lives of the Manx people for centuries. She can tell you about traditional Manx music and dance but also the vibrant music scene of today. As a member of Manx Voices ladies choir she enjoys competing herself along with the uplifting experience which choral singing always provides.
Jacqueline would be happy to prepare personalised tours for your interests or just come for a general tour of any or all areas of the Island.
As a proud, native Manxwoman, I am passionate about sharing the delights of the island.
Allow me to tell you about our history and heritage: art and architecture, wheels and wallabies, kippers and queenies, bonnag and beer, castles and cathedrals, steam-trains and trams, tails and tales, smugglers and slavers, folklore and fable, records and races, Tynwald and taxes, Vikings and vigils, chapels and churches, crosses and cairns, tholtans and theatre, our mountain and mines.
I’d be delighted to guide you on leisurely walks, or in your car, or to step onto your minibus or coach.
